The Opportunity

An exciting new opportunity is available for a Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow to join the Biostatistics Unit within the Division of Biostatistics, Data analytics, Modelling and Health Economics of the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine on a 2-year fixed-term basis. This is a new position focussed primarily on the design and analysis of research studies in the area of critical care, and to pursue evaluations and development of relevant statistical methodology.

The critical care research component of the position involves engagement in a variety of research projects including clinical trials, analyses of observational data and registries of critically ill patients. It encompasses the formulation and writing of statistical analysis plans, providing input to the development of study protocols, grant applications and research papers, reporting the results of clinical trials and other analyses. Areas of biostatistical methodological investigation will be in cluster randomised trials, and stepped wedge trials in particular, although some flexibility can be accommodated according to shared interests of the appointee and the AusTRiM Research Network (Australian Trials Methodology Research Network).

This position is suited to a highly motivated individual who holds a doctoral qualification in biostatistics, statistics or a closely related discipline area. Additionally, the successful candidate will ideally demonstrate a strong track record of methodological publications and/or technical contributions such as software development. Experience in clinical research is essential, including advanced statistical analyses of randomised trials or observational studies, contributions to statistical analysis plans, and development of trial protocols.

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

At Monash University, we are committed to being a Child Safe organisation. Some positions at the University will require the incumbent to hold a valid Working with Children Check.

Your application must address the selection criteria. Please refer to  "How to apply for Monash Jobs ".
