            Level B – $114,645 – $136,136  p.a. pro rata plus 17% super

About the Role 
This role offers an exciting opportunity for an early career Research Fellow to collaborate closely with Orygen’s Executive Director, Professor Patrick McGorry (AO), supporting various academic writing and publication tasks. Responsibilities include assisting with the preparation and submission of scientific papers, managing publications, updating grant management systems, and potentially developing individual research projects. The Research Fellow will report to and receive guidance from the Executive Director of Orygen. 

Your responsibilities will include: 


  • Assist with preparing, editing and co-writing scientific papers, policy papers, book chapters and other articles for publication that involved the ED 
  • Assist with competitive grant applications that involve the ED, and update and maintain the ED’s RGMS profile 
  • Assist with preparing PowerPoint slides for the ED, including updating slides with new research output/information 

Who We Are Looking For 
We’re looking for people who demonstrate proficiency in scientific research, strong writing skills, adaptability, and attention to detail, with experience in data management and literature reviews. They should excel both independently and collaboratively, with familiarity in research systems. 

You will also have: 


  • PhD or Doctorate in discipline relevant to the role. 
  • Experience or knowledge of the purpose and conduct of scientific research. 
  • Demonstrated experience in medical/science writing and a demonstrated track record drafting or writing high quality research papers. 
  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly in relation to the management of data.
