The Opportunity

The School of Psychological Sciences is seeking to appoint a highly skilled and passionate Research Fellow who will support the operations of the Epidemiology of Dementia (Epi-D) research group. This research group has a particular focus on the role of vascular health and sleep in the development of dementia, as well as validating biomarkers to improve dementia diagnosis (particularly blood-based biomarkers of neuroinflammation).

The Research Fellow will contribute to the groups key initiatives including prospective cohort studies, clinical studies, and consortia focused on the following:

  • understanding risk and protective factors for cognitive impairment and dementia and;
  • validating biomarkers to improve dementia prediction and diagnosis. 

The Research Fellow will be involved in coordinating study operations with various cohorts both locally and around the world. The occasional testing of participants may also be required.

You will be expected to enrich the lab environment by building on or generating new ideas, write and prepare papers for publication, assist with data collection and entry and present results at national and international conferences. You will assist with the development of funding applications, research protocols, ethics applications and amendments as well as maintain a record of grant deadlines. This position will also assist with general lab activities and analysis of other national and international datasets.

Ideally, we are seeking someone with a doctoral qualification in Psychology, Neuroepidemiology or a related discipline.

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
