The Opportunity
If you are interested in working within one of the world’s leading Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Faculties based in Parkville Biomedical precinct, then we look forward to hearing from you!
The Integrated Neurogenic Mechanisms (INM) Lab within the Monash Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences are seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral researcher with outstanding expertise in GPCR pharmacology, cell signalling and microscopy, to support a multi-disciplinary research program focussed on understanding and controlling targets within pain and inflammatory pathways. Reporting to ARC Future Fellow Dr. Nicholas Veldhuis, the focus of the role will be to lead a molecular pharmacology program that applies a range of complementary signalling and imaging approaches. It also involves liaising with polymer chemistry experts within the Faculty to develop new drug delivery systems to spatiotemporally control cell signalling.
As the successful candidate you will be responsible for:
- Molecular biology activities and engineering new cell lines, as appropriate
- Data analysis, interpretation of data and manuscript preparation
- Liaising with polymer chemistry and proteomics experts within the Faculty, which requires effective communication across laboratories
- General lab management duties, including assisting in the management of tissue culture facilities
The successful applicant will have a PhD or Masters degree in a relevant discipline and ideally have expertise in one or more of:
- High-throughput bioluminescent-based signalling assays
- Confocal fluorescence microscopy
- Contemporary molecular biology techniques such as CRISPR/Cas9
- Biochemistry techniques such as affinity purification and proteomics
Diversity is one of our greatest strengths at Monash. We encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, culturally and linguistically diverse people, people with disabilities, neurodiverse people, and people of all genders, sexualities, and age groups.

Monash avidly supports flexible and hybrid working arrangements. We have a range of policies in place enabling staff to combine work and personal commitments. This includes supporting parents .
Your employment is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of all pre-employment and/or background checks required for the role, as determined by the University.
Your application must address the selection criteria. Please refer to 'How to apply for Monash Jobs '.
