About the opportunity 

The aim of the Biomedical Informatics and Digital Health theme in the School of Medical Sciences is to pursue a future in which health data and information are seamlessly integrated into biomedical discovery and the continuous improvement of health and healthcare. The theme is seeking a Research Fellow to undertake research as part of a Digital Health CRC research project.

In this newly established position, the Research Fellow will design and conduct studies to evaluate and improve the implementation and uptake of decision support tools by hospital clinicians.  The Research Fellow will work within a multi-disciplinary team, and work closely with health service, university and industry partners to understand how best to design and embed decision support tools into care delivery. The role will also assist in the management of the day to day operational capability of the team such as assisting with future grant applications and supervision of PhD students.

  • holds a PhD in Human Factors, Implementation Science, Health Informatics, Psychology, or related area

  • demonstrates expertise and experience in undertaking health services research, particularly in hospital settings

  • demonstrates particular expertise in the design and conduct of qualitative research, including qualitative studies with clinicians

  • demonstrates a track record of impactful research and publications in their field

  • is an excellent mentor for junior scientists as evidenced by supervision, mentoring, and support

  • demonstrates a strong track record of effectively working in multi-disciplinary teams, including academic, industry and professional institutions, health partners, and stakeholders


Other

Your employment is conditional upon the completion of all role required pre-employment or background checks in terms satisfactory to the University. Similarly, your ongoing employment is conditional upon the satisfactory maintenance of all relevant clearances and background check requirements. If you do not meet these conditions, the University may take any necessary step, including the termination of your employment.

For a continuing position, you must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident. Australian Temporary Residents may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
