About the RePaDD Centre and the National Palliative Care Projects
The Research Centre for Palliative Care, Death, and Dying (RePaDD) is nationally known for its research and projects which seek to make a difference to the care provided at the end of life. We do this by examining the issues and challenges experienced by people living with a life-limiting illness, their carers, and the health and social care professionals supporting them. We develop innovative solutions and advance the knowledge and evidence in palliative care to improve society’s experience of death and dying.
We are responsible for national palliative care projects that focus on improving palliative care education and training for the primary care, acute care and aged care workforces and raising awareness of palliative care and advance care planning. This includes the funding for recently announced 2023-2026 national palliative care projects including CareSearch/palliAGED and ELDAC. This is a unique opportunity to be involved in research that makes a difference to individuals, services, organisations, and communities. It is also a chance to work with a highly skilled and committed project team building evidence and developing practice ready knowledge and resources. You will also be able to develop your knowledge and experience in working with researchers with expertise across health and digital health, education, marketing and communications, and community and health services research.
About the Role
The CareSearch and palliAGED websites provide a rich range of evidence syntheses, guidance materials and resources for use by the aged care and healthcare workforce as well as information and supports for patients, carers, families and the general community around palliative care and death and dying.
Flinders University are seeking a passionate researcher to actively contribute to the CareSearch project by facilitating the delivery and evaluation of agreement activities and the reporting of project activities. You will be required to contribute to an ethical, high-quality, and innovative research and evaluation through a range of various activities.
As the Research Fellow, you will also be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing the Impact Assessment Framework in conjunction with the Research Lead and Senior Research Fellow.
- Contributing to the CareSearch and palliAGED web content by ensuring the content is up-to-date and accurate.
- Facilitating the use and uptake of project resources by the aged and health care sectors
- Playing a lead role in coordinating, planning, and executing project tasks including evaluation activities.
Some out of hours work (including weekends) as well as rural SA, interstate and overseas travel, may be required.
About You
We are looking for a qualified researcher with experience in publishing high-quality publications, attracting external competitive grants and presenting at a national and/or international level in relation to the palliative care/aged care sector.
Utilising your excellent communication skills, you will build and maintain effective relationships with staff and industry. You will understand the importance of delivering project targets on time and ensure quality is never compromised.
As the successful candidate, you will also possess:
- Completion of a PhD in aged care, palliative care, nursing, allied health or other relevant fields.
- Demonstrated experience in qualitative and quantitative research methodology.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and execute data collection and analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to critically review the literature in relevant fields.
