Your New Role
The successful candidate will coordinate evidence synthesis and lead on the implementation of new trials focused on healthy ageing including dementia risk reduction and prevention. You will work in close partnership with colleges in the Centre of Dementia Excellence, Enable Institute and Dementia Australia to develop novel strategies to prevent cognitive and physical impairment (e.g. dementia and Mild Cognitive Impairment [MCI]) across the life-course, and inform new policy on how this can be achieved. The focus of the role will be on the whole Australian population as well as stratified by unique groups (i.e. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples).
In this role you will:

  • Conduct systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
  • Analyse epidemiological studies.
  • Design and coordinate clinical feasibility trials.
  • Build a portfolio of research funding.
  • Disseminate research findings including for example submit research articles and present at professional meetings/conferences.
  • Take on administrative responsibilities of the Ageing and Dementia domain within the Enable Institute.

You will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.

  • A doctoral qualification in a medical sciences, biomedical science, experimental medicine, health sciences or a related field.
  • Proven experience in trial design and management.
  • An established record of highly productive research outputs with regular publication in high quality refereed academic journals, or outputs in other creative outlets, consistent with an international reputation in the field.
  • Familiarity with ethical considerations in research and human subjects research regulations.
  • Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
  • Experience in biomarker analysis is desirable.
