Your new role

We are looking for a passionate postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our team. You will be enthusiastic about crafting new, and participating in, ongoing basic and applied research that will help organisations improve the experiences of their workers.

To be successful in this role, you will require a PhD in a relevant field (Organisational Psychology or a closely related discipline), advanced research skills, and a commitment to conducting high quality research in partnership with research end users (e.g., industry, government).

The exciting research you’ll carry out is based within the “Employee Experience” theme at Curtin University’s Future of Work Institute (FOWI) – a major initiative on the university to engage with the rapidly changing world of work. The Employee Experience theme comprises research, led by John Curtin Distinguished Professor Marylene Gagne and Associate Professor Patrick Dunlop, that examines the future of recruitment and selection (including the candidate experience, selection assessments, and improving organisational diversity), organisational socialisation, employee management (including remote and algorithmic management) team effectiveness (including virtuality), work motivation and engagement, remuneration and financial incentives, and turnover and retention.

In this role you will work with a team of researchers to:  


  • Develop and conduct basic and applied research on topics relevant to the “Employee Experience” theme. 
  • Lead and contribute to data collection efforts within the research program.
  • Analyse research data using appropriate analytic techniques. 
  • Lead and contribute to reports to industry or other research partners. 
  • Support knowledge exchange and ‘impact’ activities, such as presenting findings to research partners and/ or developing practitioner-oriented guidance. 
  • Contribute to international quality academic papers and help to translate research into practical papers. 

Please note you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.

Essential Criteria:  

  • Relevant PhD qualification in organisational psychology or closely related discipline and/or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. 
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to read and interpret scholarly papers in the field of organisational psychology/ behaviour.
  • Experience in a range of research methods such as designing, conducting, and interpreting interviews, surveys, and experiments. 
  • Ability to translate research findings for lay audiences.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience conducting multivariate statistical analyses including structural modelling and multilevel analysis, or in-depth experience conducting qualitative analysis. 
  • Experience conducting applied organisational and field-based research.  
  • Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders including industry partners and to work in a research team. 
Desirable Criteria
  • Willingness and ability to supervise honours and masters’ students (e.g., in organisational psychology and/or organizational behaviour/management).
