About the Role 

The MedTechVic team at Swinburne University of Technology are looking for a Research Fellow to join their team. 

The Research Fellow is a vital role within MedTechVic, which will contribute to the strategic research effort and industry focus. The Fellow will be expected to carry out appropriate activities that will maintain and develop their scholarly, research and/or professional expertise, whilst functioning as a member of both discipline-based and interdisciplinary teams to help the Hub to achieve its strategic objectives. The purpose is to conduct projects using co-design of enabling technology solutions to support people living with disability and/or chronic disease. 

The fellow will have or is nearing submission of PhD and a demonstrated track record biomedical engineering, product design or a related discipline. The Fellow will have an ability to attract competitive research funding and conduct independent research. The Fellow must be comfortable in working with people with disabilities and enabling them to take a leadership role in the co-design of new products, systems, and processes

About You  
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • A track record of quality research outputs evidenced by publications
  • Demonstrated capacity to contribute to research teams and partnerships, as well as research supervision to achieve high impact research outcomes
  • Demonstrated high standard of interpersonal and communication skills including resourcefulness, initiative, and the ability to meet tight deadlines, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Demonstrated experience working as a team member to effectively communicate and liaise with academic colleagues, industry partners and clinicians appropriately

Qualifications
  • PhD (or close to obtaining) in a relevant field biomedical engineering, product design or a related field or a combination of a PhD with extensive experience in one of these fields
