The University of Adelaide is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to work on a cross-disciplinary project involving experts in both AI and human performance.
The Intelligent Decision Superiority Research Network (iDS) is an initiative of the Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) and is part of the Integrated Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) priority research theme of the Department of Defence Next Generation Technology Fund. In particular, iDS seeks to leverage the wider science, technology and innovation capability in academia, industry and government research agencies to develop and demonstrate future ISR concepts.
In this role, the Postdoctoral Researcher will design, program and carry out human behavioural experiments and contribute to modelling the behaviours of a human analyst undertaking time-critical tasks, and also contribute to the application of game theory to the monitoring and shaping of interactions between human analysts and AI agents. You will be expected to contribute to publications in leading journals and conferences and seminar programs.
Opportunities will be provided for conference travel, and travel for the purposes of facilitating research collaborations with Australian and international partners, as appropriate.
To be successful you will need:
- A PhD from an Australian Higher Education Organisation (or equivalent) in Psychology, Neuroscience, vision science or computer science, or such combination of relevant qualifications and experience deemed equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in undertaking postdoctoral research activities commensurate with those expected at this level.
- A demonstrated record of publications in leading academic journals and conferences commensurate with that expected at this level.
- Demonstrated experience in programming human behavioural experiments, experimental design.
- To be eligible to hold a Commonwealth of Australia Department of Defence security clearance as defined at https://www1.defence.gov.au/security/clearances/about/vetting-assessment
