Classification: Academic Level B
Salary package: $110,162 - $124,903 per annum plus 17% superannuation
Term: 1 x Full-time, Fixed Term (up to March 2025) & 1 x Full-time, Fixed Term (up to October 2024)

About Us

Crawford School of Public Policy is a School within CAP and is Australia’s premier public policy school, with recognised world-class expertise and experience in interdisciplinary research in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.

The Children’s Policy Centre, within the Crawford School of Public Policy, undertakes innovative, inter-disciplinary research on a range of issues relating to children’s policy, with a strong focus on ending child poverty. We communicate research findings to contribute to better outcomes for children and young people and seek to connect researchers, policy makers and practitioners working on a range of issues to promote the human rights, wellbeing and best interests of children.

The Opportunity
We are seeking up to two researchers, with experience in undertaking qualitative research and analysis, and some knowledge of poverty and social indicators to contribute to our research on children’s experiences of poverty, place-based responses to child poverty, and child-inclusive policies within the Children’s Policy Centre. The research fellow(s) will report to Professor Sharon Bessell, and will work with our local partners in communities and government.  

In this role you will undertake qualitative research with children, undertake analysis of qualitative data, communicate findings to diverse audiences, contribute to developing child-centred indicators, provide support to the small, dynamic research team.

Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will have a PhD in social sciences, with experience in working on social policy in Australia. Experience in undertaking research with children or on issues of poverty or social disadvantage will be an advantage. To excel in this role, proficiency in NVivo and experience in research communication will be an advantage.
