Institute for Resilient Regions

The Institute for Resilient Regions conducts multidisciplinary collaborative research with industry, community, and government in a broad range of regional settings. The long-term viability of regional communities is dependent on diversified workforces, flexible economies and behavioural adaptations to sustain healthy populations, and strong cultural and social capital. The Institute for Resilient Regions draws together research expertise to address complex issues, challenges and opportunities in regional communities.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to ground-breaking research in digital agriculture, autonomy and sensing to build drought resilience, as part of the innovative project “Changing the Game: Resilience to Seasonal Variations and Drought through Ag Tech.”   This project aims to revolutionise future farming practices by implementing digital technologies, IoT, data management, artificial intelligence and smart machinery to enhance drought preparedness and climate resilience.

Who you are

Candidates should have demonstrated experience and research expertise in agricultural research, field trials, data collection and analysis, along with knowledge of digital agriculture technologies, precision farming, data management systems and statistical analysis software.

What you’ll do

As an integral member of the research team, you will work at an 800 Ha world class research facility, dedicated to advancing digital agriculture and autonomy for improved industry-wide research, training and adoption in Australia.  You will assist in the implementation, monitoring and documentation of research activities related to digital agriculture and automation at the commercial “Smart Farm” scale.

What will help you succeed

Key to your success in this role will be your relevant qualification in agriculture, agronomy, agricultural engineering or a related field, and your ability to work across multiple projects and collaborate with diverse teams to support research efforts and contribute to a range of agricultural initiatives.

Salary: Total remuneration range $125,372 to $148,185 pa (includes salary range of $105,933 to $125,209 pa, employer superannuation contributions of 17% of salary and annual leave loading)
