About the Role
An exciting opportunity awaits you at the University of Melbourne's Indigenous Epidemiology and Health Unit as a Research Fellow leading Indigenous health-focused research projects. Our research spans perinatal health, early childhood, adolescent health, mental health, cardio-metabolic health, disability, and cognitive/brain health (dementia prevention). We conduct cohort studies, data linkage, intervention trials, and qualitative research to address health disparities among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians. 

This role provides a dynamic opportunity to collaborate within a dedicated team, leveraging Indigenous strengths and knowledge to understand health pathways and promote well-being across all age groups. Reporting to Professor Sandra Eades, the Associate Dean (Indigenous) and Head of the Indigenous Epidemiology Health Unit, you will contribute to the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health's academic mission while adhering to university policies, procedures, and environmental health and safety standards. Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Initiate and manage the day-to-day operations, and oversee the necessary ethics approvals.  
  • Participate in relevant meetings and community activities.  
  • Manage ongoing relationships with internal and external project partners and other key stakeholders.
  • Maintain a sound knowledge of current University Policy and Procedures.  

Who We Are Looking For
We're seeking a Research Fellow with exceptional verbal, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills. The ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders is crucial. Ideally, you will have proven experience in managing large-scale research projects and a track record of collaboration with multi-disciplinary investigator teams. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential for identifying and resolving issues in this role. 

You will also have: 

  • PhD in relevant area or equivalent professional qualification. 
  • Demonstrated expertise in biostatistics, epidemiology or similar. 
  • Proven track record of academic publications with demonstrated quantitative research expertise. 
  • Proficiency with at least one data analysis software.
