The Research Education Support Officer will work under general supervision with some direction provided on key accountabilities. They will have some discretion to choose between established methods and sequences provided set priorities and deadlines are met. They will be expected to exercise some initiative and judgement in resolving minor problems associated with day-to-day operating procedures.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • manage the administrative requirements of providing an effective, accurate and timely recruitment process and support to higher degree by research (HDR) applicants and candidates in the Business School
  • respond to queries from potential candidates, and from Professional Staff Units (PSUs) and stakeholders to support decisions on admissions to the Program, the allocation of scholarships, HDR funding schemes, the administration of progression milestones and allocation of spaces for HDR students
  • engage in project work seeking to improve student and applicant experience, and work closely with the Manager, Research Education Support to achieve these aims.

About you

We are looking for a Research Education Support Officer who possesses:

  • ability to review processes and systems and recommend and implement improvements in service
  • demonstrated ability to work independently under general direction with minimal supervision and to work as an effective team member
  • attention to detail while managing a range of tasks and volumes and prioritising to meet deadlines
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in handling a wide range of enquiries and providing excellent customer service
  • strong problem solving skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement along with the ability to prioritise workload during busy periods
  • well-developed negotiation, conflict resolution, relationship building and influencing skills
  • working knowledge of software programs such as Sydney Student (especially Client), Records Management, and Content Management Systems (especially Canvas)
  • experience managing high volumes, competing priorities and a variety of responsibilities and stakeholders
  • experience working in an administrative role at a university, especially admissions or student services.
