About the Role
The Research Data Manager will support the establishment of OMIX3, Australia's first integrated, accredited multi-omic analysis platform for research and clinical samples. This role involves setting up a national data commons for secure data sharing, facilitating the use of advanced biostatistical and AI tools, and ensuring data management aligns with security protocols and ethical standards. The manager will work closely with the Australian BioCommons team, academic leads, and the wider research community, reporting to the overall project lead while fostering collaboration across multiple institutions within the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, and Health Sciences.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Mapping of current and anticipated data requirements across four flagship projects.
- Work closely with technical experts, including software developers, engineers and cloud architects to develop custom technical solutions to meet user requirements.
- Collaborate with research end users of human multi-omics data to ensure that data holdings and sharing platforms are fit for purpose, identify user requirements, and work with deployment experts to address those requirements.
Who We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will demonstrate high-level oral and written communication skills, the ability to engage and build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, and a capability and enthusiasm for learning new technologies and software tools in biomedicine, genomics, and bioinformatics. They will possess an understanding of ethical, social, and legal issues related to human genomics data, as well as knowledge of data management principles and best practices.
You will also have:
- Postgraduate qualification or equivalent working experience in a relevant field (e.g. health informatics, data sharing, data management, applications of genomics, bioinformatics).
- Knowledge of ontologies, standards, schemas, data dictionaries and methods for representing relational metadata relating to human multi-omic data.
- An understanding of the ethical, social and legal issues related to use and sharing of human genomics data.High level oral and written communication skills, including oral presentations to stakeholders and support with report writing relating to data management.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
