About the team

This position is based within the Advanced Clinical and Translational Cardiovascular Imaging Laboratory, Cardiovascular Science and Diabetes Group at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research, UWA Centre for Medical Research. The Group is one of the world’s foremost research groups in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning towards cardiovascular disease and inflammation. Using a diverse set of scientific approaches from mechanistic translational science program, epidemiological, machine and deep learning methods; the team uses a trans-disciplinary approach with long term goals of improving risk prediction and risk stratification for people with suspected or at risk of cardiovascular disease.

About the opportunity

As a Research Associate you will join a multi-disciplinary team and be a key player in reaching the goals of the Advanced Clinical and Translational Cardiovascular Imaging Laboratory. You will contribute to heart disease risk assessment through your research, design, and building of pragmatic and rigorous solutions towards computational imaging algorithms.

You will also build and maintain data driven information retrieval models, experiments, recommendation algorithms, and machine learning models. Drawing on your expertise you will also investigate new data and machine learning technologies while providing mentorship and advice to team members.

About you 

To be considered for this opportunity, you will have

  • PhD degree in Computer Science or similar.
  • Sound knowledge and skills in Python or related programming language.
  • Sound knowledge and previous experience with artificial intelligence and machine learning (including deep learning) algorithms and model performance
  • Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills
  • High developed organisation skills and a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
