  • Base Salary $83,454 - $112-462 + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The School of Medical Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine and Health has an exciting opportunity for an early career researcher to join Professor Cameron Turtle’s lab at the University of Sydney. The Research Associate will be working on the development of novel gene-edited T cell tumor immunotherapies for cancer.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • drive and carry out relevant lab based research using advanced genome editing in human T cells

  • supervise and mentor research support staff and students

  • collaborate with research teams to write grants and prepare research findings for publication.

About you

  • completed or working towards completion of PhD

  • strong experience in advanced genome editing techniques e.g. CRISPR, prime editing, adenoviral and lentiviral engineering  

  • understanding of human T-cell immunology

  • the following skills are advantageous: 

  • T cell culture, phenotypic and functional assays 

  • multi-parameter flow cytometry 

  • experience with xenogeneic models of T cell immunotherapy 

  • excellent interpersonal skills across a range of stakeholders including patients, clinicians and academics

  • ability to conceive, initiate, organise and manage projects, work independently, as well as manage small project teams.
