  • Full-time, fixed term contract until 1 May 2023
  • Commencement Salary: $90,451 Level ARAS or $101,784 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)


About the Role

As the Research Associate/Research Fellow you will undertake research-related activities for the project entitled Quality Use of Pathology. The research is focused on measuring the extent of problems with pathology testing, implementing a data driven solution to improve use of pathology services and developing a strategic action plan for future activity.

Core Responsibilities

  • Analysis of SA Pathology and SA Health data to identify underuse, inappropriate and unnecessary use of pathology tests in public hospitals
  • Participate in consultations and workshops with stakeholders to inform the progress of the project
  • Develop and implement tools, including data analysis algorithms, anomaly detection tools and visualisation tools suitable for routine use by SA Pathology
  • Contribute to the production and dissemination of a range of project and evaluation reports

Essential Skills and Experience
  • A post graduate (Level ARAS) or a PhD (level BRF) qualification in data science or a relevant discipline
  • Advanced coursework in statistical analysis, data science or biostatistics
  • Experience in data analysis using statistical software such as R, python or SAS in large health related datasets
  • Demonstrated competency in recording, analysing, presenting and disseminating research to stakeholders
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team environment, including the ability to develop networks, and effective relationships with students and staff
