Base Salary for Level A $83,454 - $112,462 (pro-rata) or for Level B $118,390 - $140,586 (pro-rata) + 17% superannuation
About the opportunity
The Sydney Medical School established 1856, aims to improve health through education, research and clinical care. The Sydney Medical School is part of the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney which is home to the largest and most comprehensive assembly of health research in the Asia Pacific. It conducts cutting-edge research across the full spectrum of health and medical knowledge, from the medical sciences through to clinical medicine, public health, and medical education.
The Central Clinical School supports a wide range of teaching and research activities for Medicine. The Clinical School staff support or lead, clinical and public health research.
We are seeking a Research/Postdoc Research Associate or a Research Fellow to join a growing research team led by Dr Alyssa Milton and Professor Nick Glozier to support two National Category 1 Grant projects that are using co-design, hybrid implementation and effectiveness trialling to support physical and mental health self-management programs for people experiencing psychosis and other complex mental health conditions.
The incumbent will help coordinate and undertake data collection, clinical trials, data interpretation and development of publications.
The incumbent will be expected to apply and develop their expertise in conducting research. They will conduct research and/or scholarly activities under the limited supervision of the team leader and other senior academic staff, either independently or as part of a research team.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
For level A Postdoctoral Research Associate (Research Only)
work closely with the team leader and other chief investigators of the NHMRC and MRFF projects
to work independently and as part of the research team, to undertake mixed methods research, including data collection, analysis and writing up of results
to undertake qualitative and quantitative research field work independently, with possible trips to QLD and Victoria over 2 years
assist in the development and publication of a systematic scoping review
assist to coordinate the project investigator meetings, workshops and group meetings
assist in all activities related to conduct of the research including in the reviewing and updating of research protocols and related documents, and in coordinating reporting to human research ethics committees
assist to build and maintain strategic relationships by liaising, consulting, and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders to identify key issues as they relate to the research activities and help developing effective solutions to challenges that arise
For level B – Research Fellow (in addition to the above)
co-ordinate or lead the activities of other staff as appropriate to the role
co-ordinate or lead research implementation as appropriate to the role
co-ordinate or lead research dissemination as appropriate to the role.
About you
Level A Postdoctoral Research Associate (Research Only)
hold a research Masters or a PhD in a relevant discipline
have at least 2 years of demonstrated experience working in a research role with a comparable level of responsibility
proven experience developing and contributing to research evidence by producing original, high quality and independent research
demonstrated ability to perform qualitative data analyses
proven ability to communicate effectively across a range of forums
proven experience in the development of academic manuscripts or report writing
demonstrated accuracy, attention to detail and highly organized, with the ability to work according to strict deadlines and manage various demands
strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement and ability to prioritise workload during busy periods
ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work
some demonstrated expertise in physical and/or mental health non-pharmacological interventions in mental health services
For level B – Research Fellow (in addition to the above)
deep expertise in physical and/or mental health non-pharmacological interventions in mental health services
strong experience in co-design and implementation science
experience running research studies and/or clinical trials
