  • Base Salary (Level A/B) $105,350 - $140,586 + 17% superannuation 

About the opportunity

We are currently seeking a Research Associate/Fellow in Representation Theory to participate in a research program investigating the representation theory of cyclotomic KLR algebras in the context of the ARC Project “Categorification and KLR algebras”. The successful applicant will be working in the School of Mathematics and Statistics under the supervision of Professor Andrew Mathas and in collaboration with other academic staff.

  • A PhD in a relevant field

  • published research, as sole author or in collaboration, in refereed journals

  • experience in mathematical research, preparation of research papers and seminars

  • demonstrated expertise in representation theory and algebraic combinatorics

  • demonstrated capacity to work co-operatively with others with the ability to undertake independent teaching and research in staff member’s discipline or related area

  • excellent organisational and administrative skills with strong attention to detail

  • excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Applicants who demonstrate the following desirable criteria will be highly regarded:

  • have working knowledge of the representation theory of the cyclotomic KLR algebras, Kac-Moody algebras, categorification and crystals.

  • programming skills with experience using mathematical software such as sage, gap or magma

  • ability to supervise students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
