Research Associate/Research Fellow - Biostatistics

  • Employment Type: Full-time (35 hour week)
  • Duration: 12 month fixed term contract
  • Remuneration: Level A/B dependent on experience $106,337 - $140,802 + 17% Super and leave loading
  • Location: Kensington, NSW (Hybrid Flexible Working)
  • Full Australian working rights required for the duration of the contract

Why Your Role Matters:

As a Research Associate/Research Fellow in Biostatistics, you will be expected to make a contribution in the areas of data science and biostatistics in the Department of Developmental Disability Neuropsychiatry (3DN), UNSW and develop your research expertise through projects aligned with our mission.

You will conduct research in the developmental disability and neuropsychiatry fields with a focus on data science and biostatistical approaches using large linked administrative datasets accessible to 3DN. You will be expected to contribute to study design, statistical analysis, reporting results, preparing manuscripts, and communications with stakeholders for several ongoing projects related to the health and well-being of people with intellectual/developmental disabilities.

The role of Research Associate/Research Fellow in Biostatistics reports to Senior Research Fellow and has no direct reports.

Who You Are:

To be considered at a Level A/Research Associate

  • A PhD in statistics, biostatistics, data science and/or relevant work experience.
  • Experience or ability to learn to analyse complex linked administrative datasets.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with diverse stakeholders and students.

To be considered at a Level B/Research Fellow (in addition to the above)

  • Evidence and experience with research group collaborations.
  • Demonstrated track record in research with outcomes of high quality and high impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence as well as the capacity for research leadership.
  • A track record of significant involvement with the profession and/or industry.
  • Evidence of previous experience attracting external research funding.
  • Previous experience supervising PhD students.
