The School of Science is a multidisciplinary school committed to advancing scientific knowledge to help solve some of the world’s greatest problems. As a Research Associate (RA) you will undertake a specific chemistry/materials science research project under the direction of a senior academic. The RA will undertake molecular dynamics simulations of highly exothermic reactive materials systems with real-world relevance to pyrotechnic, ignition, bonding and explosive applications.

As a member of the School of Science research staff, you will be contributing to world-class scientific research using national-level research infrastructure with access to Australian sovereign capability industries.

About the Role:

Role:                     Research Associate
Salary:                  Level A: $79,679 - 106,237 p.a. plus 17% Superannuation
Term:                    Full Time, Fixed term for 5.5 months.  Other terms by negotiation.

 About the Successful Applicant

To be successful in this role you will:            

  • Have the ability to undertake high quality independent research with appropriate supervision.
  • Be experienced in atomistic molecular dynamics.
  • Have a good understanding of chemical reactions in gas and solid state.
  • Be skilled in working in a High-Performance Computing environment.
  • Have excellent verbal and written scientific communication skills.
