  • Full-time, fixed term contract until 31 December 2026
  • Commencement Salary: $96,929 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)


About the Role 

We are looking for Postdoctoral Researcher that will contribute to the research efforts of the Future Industries Institute, in particular will undertake research in the iLaunch Hub project titled ‘Additive manufacture via Electron Beam Melt printing for space capability” with industry partner Starke AMG and VPG.

Core Responsibilities 

  • Undertake research under routine supervision to achieve project grant outcomes; that is the development of Electron Beam Melt (EBM) Additive Manufacture (AM) processes and products
  • Develop an understanding and practical capability in EBM
  • Design and perform a range of experiments including appropriate controls to achieve planned research outcomes
  • Prepare refereed journal publications, conference and seminar papers arising from the research
  • Co-supervise post graduate students in the appointee’s area of expertise

Essential Skills and Experience 
  • A postgraduate qualification or PhD in an appropriate Science or Engineering area relevant to the research area. 
  • A demonstrated capability in additive manufacturing processes, such as laser or electron beam powder bed fusion processes
  • Experience in the design, production and evaluation of metal AM parts
  • Experience in the metallographic preparation of samples and analysis via optical microscopy and indentation
  • Experience in the operation of equipment related to tribology (wear and corrosion testing)
