  • Full-time, fixed term contract from 14 October 2022 to 31 October 2023 based in the Clinical and Health Sciences Unit at the City East campus
  • Commencement Salary: $90,451 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)


About the Role

The Research Associate will contribute to the research of the Population Health Chemistry Research Group, undertaking research-related activities including the production of high quality data, generation of competitive grant applications and publications, national and international collaborations, and translation of research findings.

Core Responsibilities

  • Contribute to planning of research by participating in planning sessions, offering new ideas on research directions, reviewing relevant literature and other sources of information, attending seminars and meetings and undertaking pilot studies
  • Contribute to the execution of research by actively participating in the production of data and to explore new quadrupole and Time-of-Flight mass spectrometric methods and directions, designing experiments, including appropriate controls, according to the planned aims of the research
  • Contribute to the dissemination of new knowledge by drafting reports, abstracts, scientific papers and other instruments providing accounts of research undertaken and the findings observed
  • Contribute to a safe and ethical working environment

Essential Skills and Experience
  • A post graduate qualification in an analytical chemistry-related discipline
  • Excellent experimental skills and techniques relevant to the field of Wastewater-based epidemiology
  • Demonstrated experience in recording, analysing, presenting and disseminating research to stakeholders including the preparation of papers for high quality publications or posters for conference presentations
  • Experience, as judged by publications, in relevant areas of research and a substantial knowledge of laboratory procedures, including analytical quality control, relevant to the research project/s
  • Demonstrated previous experience and competency in the contribution of research projects, collaborations and research governance
