  • Part-time (0.5 FTE), fixed term contract until 31 December 2022 based in the Centre for Cancer Biology at the City West campus
  • Commencement Salary: $90,451 pro rata per annum (plus 17% superannuation)


About the Role

The Research Associate will contribute to grant-funded research under the broad direction of the Head: Tumour Microenvironment Laboratory in order to achieve defined objectives and test stated hypotheses. The broad aim of this project is to understand the role of mechanotransduction signalling in regulating tumour-promoting characteristics of the tumour microenvironment.

About the Centre for Cancer Biology

The Centre for Cancer Biology (CCB) is an alliance between the University of South Australia and CALHN and is co-located with other cancer-focussed researchers within a purpose-built building in Adelaide’s Biotech and Medical Precinct. The CCB studies the fundamental causes of cancer in order to find new ways to prevent and treat the disease and is a recognised hub for innovative science leading to breakthrough therapies.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Postgraduate degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology or similar with substantial experience and/or expertise in laboratory techniques (cell biology and biochemistry)
  • Demonstrated competency in recording, analysing, presenting and disseminating research to stakeholders
  • Knowledge and demonstrated recent experience in preparing risk assessments and applications for submission to relevant committees (e.g. AEC, UCAS, HREC, IBC) and reporting requirements
  • High-level oral, written and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaborate effectively with others in a multi-disciplinary research environment
  • Ability to manage and maintain a large volume of critical data, including preservation of accuracy, integrity and confidentiality requirements
