SEIT offers a flexible, friendly working environment that is well-resourced and delivers research-informed education as part of its accredited, globally recognised engineering and computing degrees to its undergraduate students. The School offers programs in electrical, mechanical, aeronautical, and civil engineering as well as in aviation, information technology and cyber security to graduates and professionals who will be Australia’s future technology decision makers. The incumbent will be embedded within the SEIT Trusted Autonomy research focus area and supported by academics already working on multi-robot sensing and coordination challenges.
As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the role will support a new externally funded initiative in teaching and research in robotics and autonomous systems. The incumbent will undertake software engineering and systems administration duties as directed by the research team leader. They will also be responsible for developing tutorials to assist students with learning about robotics and autonomous systems and how to use the SEIT robotic facilities. The laboratory manager will ideally have skills in programming, systems administration or the development of code for embedded systems applications. The incumbent will also have the opportunity to conduct robotics and autonomous systems-based research which aligns with the project aims.
About the Role:
Role: Research Associate in Autonomous Systems - Laboratory Manager
Salary: Academic Level A $99,325 - $106, 237 plus 17% Superannuation
Term: Full time, Fixed Term appointment up to 3 years
About the Successful Applicants
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A degree in software engineering with a depth of subsequent relevant experience or, an engineering qualification with extensive relevant software experience and specialist expertise;
- Experience in programming with languages such as C/C++ or Python;
- Ability to conduct high quality teaching in a University environment and willingness to undertake teaching duties as required;
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team showing initiative and taking direction as appropriate to the situation.
- Experience with Linux systems administration and/or the robotic operating system will be highly regarded;
