We have two positions available for quantitative researcher interested in applying their skills to epidemiology and public health. The researcher will typically formulate research questions, analyse data from large registries and questionnaires, and write journal articles.  

The researcher can be from any quantitative discipline including but not limited to epidemiology, health science, statistics/biostatistics, psychology, data science, spatial science, bioinformatics, environmental science, social science, economics and demography. The main requirement is the ability to statistically analyse large data and that the researcher’s expertise can be directed to health-related research. 

We are particularly interested in early career researchers with a strong quantitative skillset, a productive publication track record (relative to opportunity) and who are actively seeking research grant funding. Applicants who have submitted an NHMRC Investigator Grant application or an ARC DECRA application are welcome to submit that application along with their CV. Other applicants should submit their CV along with a letter of no more than one page addressing the selection criteria. 

This role is a Fixed Term 1 year contract renewable up to 3 years conditional on performance and the work program.

In this role you will:  

  • Contribute to research output, normally as part of a research group. 
  • Participate in applications for competitive funding. 
  • Disseminate research findings through seminars, workshops and conferences 
  • Publish in high quality journals (often in collaboration with colleagues) in manner consistent with disciplinary practice. 
  • Support supervision of honours and research masters, and co-supervision of research doctoral supervision where appropriate. 

Undertake administrative functions associated with research activities, including study protocols, research ethics, data applications.
