The WA School of Mines within Curtin University has an exciting opportunity for a Research Associate to join the team, working on various projects and undertaking industry research.

As a Research Associate, you will contribute to and undertake research in the field of thermochemical processing of organic waste such as biomass and plastics. This position will give you the opportunity to work with some leading scientists in the field to develop your research skills and enhance your research output including publishing papers in international journals and participating in conferences and workshops. You will also actively engage with industry partners in various industry projects.

We encourage non-Australian citizens/residents to apply; however, you will require work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role, and you must be willing to relocate to Perth, Western Australia for the duration of the position.   • PhD in Chemical Engineering or other energy related disciplines
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in thermochemical processing of organic waste such as biomass and plastics
  • Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations to conduct quality research
  • Demonstrated ability to work under broad direction only, exercise initiative in undertaking responsibilities, establish effective relationships and work effectively as a team member
  • Capacity to produce grant applications, and ability to generate funding either independently or as part of a research team
  • Ability and commitment to supervise Honours, Masters and PhD students
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, with emphasis on the ability to present and communicate research outcomes
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training
