The WA School of Mines within Curtin University has an exciting opportunity for a Research Associate to join the team, working on various projects and undertaking industry supported research. Ranked second in the world and first in Australia* for Mineral and Mining Engineering, we require a dedicated Research Associate - best suited to someone experienced in critical minerals and metals research. 

As a Research Associate, you will contribute to and undertake research in the field of mineral processing and hydrometallurgy of critical metals. This position will give you the opportunity to work with some leading scientists in the field to develop your research skills and enhance your research output, including publishing papers in international journals and participating in conferences and workshops. You will also actively engage with industry partners on various industry sponsored projects.

Selection Criteria

  • PhD in Metallurgical Engineering, Minerals Engineering, Extractive Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
  • Demonstrated track record of publications, conference presentations, and relevant industry experience to conduct quality research
  • Demonstrated ability to work under broad direction, take initiative in undertaking responsibilities, establish effective relationships and work effectively as a team member
  • Ability and commitment to supervise Honours, Masters and PhD students
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, with emphasis on the ability to present and communicate research outcomes
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training
