Research Associate (ARAS)

• Based in UniSA STEM at the Mawson Lakes campus
• Part-time (0.6 FTE), 2-year fixed term contract
• Salary: $96,929 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)

About the Role 

Reporting to a Professorial Lead, you will contribute to the research efforts of UniSA STEM on the project titled ‘Flame-Retarding and Mechanically Resilient Elastomer Composites’, funded by an Australian Research Council Collaboration Agreement between UniSA, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Derby Rubber Products Pty Ltd and Jiaxing Beihua Polymer Additives.

Core Responsibilities 

• Undertake research (i.e. clean manufacture of nitrile butadiene rubber composites with target performance) under limited supervision to achieve project grant outcomes 
• Design and perform a range of experiments including appropriate controls to achieve planned research outcomes 
• Prepare or contribute to the preparation of refereed journal publications, conference and seminar papers arising from the research 
• Attend and actively participate in meetings associated with relevant research projects 
• Active involvement in professional activities including, subject to the availability of funds, attendance at conferences, and seminars 

• A postgraduate qualification in a Science or Engineering area relevant to the research area 
• Evidence of high-quality research output commensurate with the length of research career, which is published and presented in appropriate forums 
• Excellent written and oral communication skills demonstrated through written work such as research reports, research publications and educational materials, and through effective liaison with internal and external stakeholders 
• Ability to plan and execute testing and research with stakeholders 
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a research team
