About the Role

The Public Health Discipline has an exciting opportunity for a dedicated individual to support a broad range of innovative projects including:

  • Designing health communications for the prevention of e-cigarette use in young people.
  • Health behaviour and systems change.
  • Tobacco control.
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.
  • Population health.

As a Research Assistant your core responsibilities will involve the management of key project administration and research materials. You will liaise with research participants, undertake literature reviews, participate in data collection, and prepare required documentation as directed by the project Supervisor.

About You

We are looking for a Research Assistant who is highly organised and excels in all forms of communication; with experience in supporting health or community-based projects to successful completion. You will be proficient in record-keeping and planning, as well as meticulous at meeting deadlines and prioritising tasks accordingly. You will hold a degree in the field of health sciences, public health, behavioural science, education, or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education.

Furthermore, you can demonstrate:

  • The ability to conduct literature searches and manage Endnote databases.
  • A commitment to fostering a positive workplace culture supporting the University’s Reconciliation Action Plan.
  • Qualitative data analysis skills, including the use of software such as NVivo.
  • Experience working in withing mental health, alcohol and other drugs, or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health contexts (desirable).
  • Experience using statistical software (e.g., R) to analyse survey data (desirable).
