About the Role
The Research Assistant will provide research support to academic staff in the Respiratory and Dust Diseases Associated Research Group, within the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute.
This role involves the processing of human biospecimens, in line with established protocols, and the banking of samples. The Research Assistant will be required to maintain confidentiality of patient data and conduct this work while adhering to ethical and regulatory requirements. Attention to detail in the conduct of experiments as well as recording of research data will be required. The incumbent will plan (with senior researchers) and execute laboratory-based experiments, as well as collect, analyse, and prepare data for presentations and publication.
About You
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
Bachelor’s degree in laboratory science/biotechnology/immunology or closely related field, or relevant experience
Evidence of experience with mammalian cell culture and the handling of human biospecimens
Advanced knowledge of flow cytometry, including high-parameter phenotyping, proliferation and cell apoptosis/death assays
Familiarity with statistical analysis, and preparation of data for presentations and publication
An understanding of the ethical and regulatory requirements of working with clinical samples and the requirement for maintaining confidentiality.
