  • Unique opportunity to work in an influential role within one of Australia’s leading geopolitical think tanks partnering with The University of Western Australia and the Commonwealth and State Governments to strengthen relationships and strategic thinking between Australia, the Indo-Pacific and the USA.
  • Full-time, fixed term, initially for 12 months, commencing date to be negotiated
  • Salary range: Level 8 $103,364 - $112,981 + 10.5% superannuation
  • Perth-based, with the opportunity to access flexible working arrangements

About the opportunity

As the appointee you will have a significant role in the development and execution of research and programming that aligns with the Perth USAsia Centre strategic goals. Under broad direction, you will develop a portfolio of research projects and programs that builds the Centre’s reputation as an international policy thought leader amongst policymakers, business and the public in Australia and across the Indo-Pacific.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency in Foreign Affairs or International Relations
  • Substantial and extensive experience in policy development and/or research
  • Ability to develop and deliver content, including research reports, policy briefs and media content, public events and high-profile visits.
  • Ability to develop and deliver programs, including public events and high-profile visits, funding proposals, budgets and grant acquittals
  • Excellent presentation and writing skills for multiple audiences
  • Experience working on India and/or South Asian issues is highly desirable

You will demonstrate excellent initiative and problem-solving capabilities, with a record of adapting to change. You will successfully work in a team and contribute to organisational goals, and be able to embrace new responsibilities in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
