About the opportunity

The Central Clinical School are looking for a Research Administration Officer to provide administrative support to the current research project team.

The Research Administration Officer will work with a growing international research team led by Professor Greg Fox to support a research programme based in Australia and Vietnam. This position will provide administrative support for clinical trials and other studies relating to infectious diseases and lung disease. The role will undertake administrative tasks, including grant administration, managing study budgets, supporting research meetings, liaising with study funding agencies, organising the shipment of study samples, organising study datasets and engaging with University and external stakeholders. The person will have had experience working in a University or tertiary education role, with administrative experience relevant to a University setting. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, be accountable for their actions and work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Provide administrative services and operational support, maintaining strong internal communication with the relevant team members for high quality and efficient admin support

  • maintain positive and clear communication with relevant funding agencies

  • liaise with universities to organise data and compile complex reports, providing administrative services and operational support

  • complete invoices, payments, shipping, and sampling, ensuring proper documentation, filing, and record-keeping is maintained at all times

  • coordinate diaries, meetings, and events, ensuring a seamless and positive experience for all stakeholders involved

  • work appropriately and under the ethics guidelines, standards and WHS requirements

  • complete and undertake ad-hoc projects or activities as needed

About you

  • advanced computer literacy with outstanding experience with the Microsoft Office Suite

  • ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse and cross-cultural team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work

  • experience with invoicing, shipping, sampling, and funding, with exceptional prioritisation and organisational skills

  • excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with a demonstrated level of tact and discretion, alongside the ability to provide excellent customer service and build relationships

  • experience in a research-intensive environment or interest in teaching and working in academia (preferred but not required).
