Your new role

Commencing as soon as possible, an exciting opportunity is available for a Representative Sport Officer to join our Curtin Sport and Recreation department.  This position assists with the coordination and supervision of sports and activities that provide opportunities for students and the wider Curtin Community to represent Curtin University in any level of competition.

The position coordinates the day-to-day administration of representative sport programs, teams and team management. The position also supports Curtin’s affiliated and associated sporting club and our Elite Athlete program. The Representative Sport Officer supports the operations of the wider sport and active recreation programs and services including social sport, kids’ holiday and intra-mural programs.

With a strong focus on enhancing wellbeing and establishing healthy lifestyle habits at any stage of life, the Representative Sport Officer plays a vital role in encouraging participation at any level from spectator, supporter, participant, and elite athlete.

The ideal incumbent will have a keen interest in the business of sport and strong relationship building skills. They will have strong work ethic, excellent time management and organisational skills accompanied with the ability to meet deadlines.

You will bring to the role

  • Genuine interest and participation in sports and recreation activities.
  • Demonstrated exceptional people skills and ability to build relationships with students, clubs, external and internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and prior experience in sporting competition management and organising multiple sporting teams’ involvement, including recruitment and team training.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in working with sporting clubs
  • Demonstrated ability to provide guidance to team members and support the creation and maintenance of an effective customer focussed, efficient team culture.
  • Demonstrated experience in risk assessment and development of regulations and guidelines for sports provision.
  • Demonstrated time management and organisational skills including ability to meet deadlines, proven scheduling/prioritising skills and ability to coordinate sporting competitions.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills and ability to consult, negotiate and liaise with a diverse range of people with cross cultural sensitivity.
  • Current Working with Children check.

You will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.
