About the Portfolio

The Operations Portfolio enables an integrated, enterprise-wide delivery for best practice student and staff experiences. The Portfolio incorporates the following business units: Enterprise Business Performance Improvement (EBPI), Communications, Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO), Global Marketing & Student Recruitment, Human Resources, Information and Technology Services (ITS), Office of the Chief Operating Officer, Procurement and Property Services Group (PSG).

 Information Technology Services (ITS) provides RMIT University with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems and services. Our role is to support RMIT’s high quality teaching, learning, research and administrative activities.

The Role

The Release Manager is a member of the DevOps Digital Release team and is responsible for the management and uplift of Release Management capabilities across the portfolio.  This function includes scheduling, coordinating, and managing releases across multiple applications across multiple teams.

The release manager works with all squads to coordinate releases across both Adobe and Salesforce. They will also be responsible for providing release governance and looking at continuously evolving the release management process and assisting other platforms with setting up release management practices.

The Release Manager will need to regularly collaborate and communicate with the QA team, Environment Manager, Scrum Masters, the IT Operations team, Change Management and business stakeholders to successfully, securely and swiftly deploy/release new features and defect fixes for our stakeholders.

Skills & Experience

  • 2-3 years of previous release and/or project management experience, (solid understanding of project management principles preferred).

  • 5-7 years of experience in information systems operations environment in systems analysis or development.

  • Salesforce release management experience highly advantageous.

  • Adobe release management experience desirable.

  • Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle and Agile methodology.

  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to approach challenging conversations to produce the best result for RMIT are a must.

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams.

  • Demonstrated effective leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Previous experience working on Jira and Confluence is desirable.

  • Exposure to education sector is desirable.
