About the Role
An exciting opportunity has become available within the Swinburne Health Service - VET Heath and Support Services team for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN).

The VET Heath and Support Services team will be a broader team working largely at the Eastern Campuses in collaboration with the Student Success Program team to support students to maintain their mental health and wellbeing during the course of their studies.

The successful applicant will use their registered nursing background to work amongst a team of 3 Counsellors, providing general health care and support to students, staff, and the community. Furthermore, this role will have a focus on project work, working with the different student cohorts at Swinburne University of Technology.
Working with their team, the Registered Nurse will provide preventative healthcare presentations, assist students with healthcare knowledge and liaise with stakeholders across the university community to provide healthcare education.

The Registered Nurse will be required to provide a range of healthcare and support which includes (but is not limited to) immunisations, mental health support, sexual health education, wound management and preventative health activities. 

Working within this team would suit someone with a sound knowledge of student health issues, sexual health, and health education, and must be an Accredited Immuniser. This role provides an attractive roster, working within the times of Monday to Friday, 8am-6pm. 

About You  
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities: 

  • Excellent triage and clinical assessment /treatment skills including emergency first aid /procedures
  • Experience in Sexual Health
  • Experience in delivering/presenting Health Promotion activities
  • Experience working in tertiary/VET education or with young adults
  • Experience working with people with culturally and linguistically diverse background
  • Ability to build relationships across the university

Qualifications
  • Qualified Registered Nurse 
  • Full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Division 1 Nurse
  • Accredited Nurse Immuniser
