About the Policy, Strategy & Impact Portfolio and RMIT Activator
The Policy, Strategy and Impact (PSI) Portfolio provides focus and momentum for the projects and priorities that have been identified in Knowledge with Action: RMIT’s Strategic Plan to 2030.
It provides support for the implementation of the RMIT Strategy with a particular focus on delivering impact through public policy and government engagement, innovative practice in organisational capability and skills development, innovation and entrepreneurship and the development of new collaborations and partnerships. PSI has been a focal point for the development of significant investment projects and precincts which focus on urban innovation for the future of Melbourne such as the Melbourne Innovation Districts partnership between the City of Melbourne, The University of Melbourne and RMIT and the Cremorne Digital Hub.
RMIT Activator activates knowledge and generates impact through entrepreneurship. Our mission is to empower founders, ventures and communities to deliver global impact, at scale, ensuring sustainability of people and planet into the future. We do this through a suite of entrepreneurial skills and venture support programs and services and large-scale impact projects and partnerships.
RMIT Activator is a partner on a number of collaborative, externally funded projects with public and private partners seeking to drive sustainable economic impact and empowerment across a diverse range of communities and contexts. RMIT Activator provides entrepreneurship as a platform to achieve these aims, designing and delivering a range of entrepreneurial engagements and programs to uplift entrepreneurial capability and activity and generate sustainable impact and outcomes.

About the Role
As the Regional/Rural Entrepreneurship Project Lead, you will champion RMIT Activator through a mix of exciting projects with a focus on regional/rural entrepreneurship and sustainable community impact programs in South-West Victoria. Through this practical, people-centered role, you will engage and connect with key stakeholders (i.e., schools, voluntary groups, local councils, business, and farming communities); implement and manage projects; develop and deliver programs and contribute to strategy and business development.
You will be an adaptive, curious and action-oriented professional, with a passion for sustainable community development and positive community impact through entrepreneurship and innovation. Ideally, you will draw on your skills and experience across sustainable, regional and rural entrepreneurship, emerging tech, circular economy, systems thinking or other relevant domains.
To be successful in this position, you’ll have as a minimum:
Demonstrated experience working with regional/rural/remote and marginalised communities, their needs, challenges and opportunities. Any regional networks within the Corangamite/Golden Plains catchment areas will be advantageous.
Familiarity with the entrepreneurial ecosystem and with practice-based tools and methods of entrepreneurship and sustainable community development. Personal entrepreneurial/start-up experience a plus.
Proven ability to work independently and in a team, whilst managing multiple and competing workstreams, deadlines and budges in a dynamic, ambiguous and fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated project management skills including the ability to utilise lean and iterative approaches to project management to deliver client and participant outcomes.
Proven ability to connect and collaborate with and influence stakeholders across industry, government, education and community.
