About the Grants Services Team
A dedicated and committed team of Research Development Officers (RDOs, n=4) comprise the Grants Services Team. The RDOs work with researchers across Western’s Schools, Institutes, and Strategic Research Initiatives (SRIs) to help researchers identify appropriate funding opportunities; facilitate the development of high-quality, competitive external grant applications; manage the grant submission processes on behalf of the University; diversify funding sources; and contribute to achieving external research income targets.

About the Role
The Grants Services Team is seeking an experienced professional to fill the Program Manager, Grants and Major Bids position within their team!

As Program Manager, Grants and Major Bids, youll be a key driver of our ambitious research agenda. You will develop and implement a strategic funding strategy, secure major grants (ARC/NHMC/MRFF focus), and forge impactful partnerships – all to empower researchers with competitive proposals and elevate our global research standing. Building strong internal and external networks, aligning with the 2021-2026 Strategic Plan and leading the way in enhancing research intensity, innovation, and engagement, are critical to this role.

This is a full-time, ongoing position based at Westerns Penrith Campus, although travel to other campuses of the University may be required.

About you
The successful candidate will have:

  • An in-depth understanding of the Australian research ecosystem.
  • Leadership experience in strategic development and management of research grants in a large research institution.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of strategies to effectively target external funding opportunities (in both a national and global context) to increase grant application success rates.
  • Experience in developing and managing high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated relationship management skills with government agencies, industry clients, multilateral agencies, and academic stakeholders.
  • Strong oral and interpersonal communication skills across a range of formal and informal contexts.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Remuneration Package: HEW Level 9 $151,302 to $161,579 p.a. (comprising Salary of $127,852 to $136,536 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading)
