About the Role

The Office of Teaching & Research Technical Services is seeking a highly motivated individual to lead a team that provides expert scientific research support to the MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development.

Working closely with the Institute Director and Institute Manager, the Technical Team Leader MARCS will ensure the technical team effectively supports research through the coordination and delivery of technical support resources. This includes specialised equipment for electroencephalography (e.g., BioSemi, EGI), transcranial stimulation (e.g., MagStim, NeuroConn), eye tracking (e.g., EyeLink, Tobii) and robotics.

The Technical Team Leader is a functional part of the team and is expected to contribute directly to research support.

Applicants should be aware that this role will be based at the new Westmead Innovation Quarter (WIQ) a visionary research, health, education, and business hub located in the Westmead Health Precinct.  However as Western Sydney University is a multi-campus university travel to other campuses may be required when operational needs arise.

Hours of work for employees in Teaching & Research Technical Services may vary due to operational requirements in supporting teaching classes or research projects and further details are outlined in the position description.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position until 10 October 2023.

About You

You will have good interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to work as a team member. A major responsibility of this role is to establish effective professional relationships and to monitor workflow, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines. You will be expected to develop and maintain good communication with higher degree students and with academic, administrative, and technical staff.

You require a tertiary degree in Computer Science, ICT, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Cognitive Neuroscience, or a closely related field and/or an equivalent combination of extensive relevant experience and education/training responsibilities in addition to managerial tasks.

Remuneration Package: HEW Level 7 $110,370 to $119,091 p.a. (comprising Salary of $93,264 to $100,633 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading).
