Ref 5336/22 - Casual Administrative Assistant, Urban Transformations Research Centre (UTRC)

Western is establishing a new Urban Transformations Research Centre (UTRC), to be centred on the complex challenges posed by the contemporary urban environment. These include but are not restricted to the environment and climate emergency which encompasses achieving net zero; healthy buildings; resilient communities, the circular economy; and the minimisation of waste and the reuse of materials.

The UTRC will also focus on the health and wellbeing, physical and social determinants that make up sustainable urban environments. As such, the UTRC’s research will pursue the holistic transformation of the urban environment that centres on liveability and life support systems, including energy, water, materials, and health systems, offering rigorous evidence-based technical, policy and governance solutions.

Hosted by the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS), the UTRC will be housed in the new Hassell Street Engineering Hub.

The UTRC is seeking Expressions of Interest for a casual Administrative Assistant position, to assist the new Centre Manager and Co-Directors Professor Nicky Morrison and Professor Greg Morrison set up and run the administration of the research centre. 

Responsibilities will include:

• assisting with overall Centre set up, accommodation and equipment management (eg maintaining a key register);

• diary management, Corporate Card acquittal, arranging travel and appointments for the UTRC Co-Directors;

• unit-wide finance tasks such as assisting with monthly GLWand reports and helping with the UTRC budget;

• assisting with the UTRC launch and organising meetings and other activities such as workshops;

• governance/secretariat tasks such as minute-taking; and helping coordinate HR matters like arranging CEAs.

This position will offer 28 hours per week for 3 months.

Remuneration: Higher Education Worker Level 5/1 - $50.75 per hour casual rate
