About the Role
The Postdoctoral Researcher will support the CRC Future Food research program “National Vegetable Protected Cropping Centre (NVPCC) – Automated Crop Monitoring for Protected Cropping systems” run at Western Sydney University (WSU). The project will provide the foundation research to support Australia’s protected cropping sector in transitioning to advanced high-tech decision support systems through developing and testing novel solutions for an array of real-world applications. The Fellow will operationalise innovative solutions in near real-time crop monitoring to enhance crop production and health towards a Decision Support System (DSS). The Fellow will work within a team of plant biologists, data scientists, communication engineers and industry experts to develop customised solutions to monitor in near real-time crop performance and health in the greenhouse environment using hyperspectral imaging techniques.

The Fellow will communicate findings at scientific meetings and publish research in high-impact international journals, as well as provide research updates for funders and industry stakeholders. A career mentoring plan will be developed and will include opportunities to contribute to teaching and supervising students, as well as leadership and engagement. This position will be predominantly based at the Hawkesbury Campus of WSU in Richmond, New South Wales.

Remuneration Package:

Academic Level A $106,765 to $128,989 p.a. (comprising Salary of $90,218 to $108,997 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading)

Applicants should be aware that this role will be based at Hawkesbury campus, however as Western Sydney University is a multi-campus university travel to other campuses may be required when operational needs arise.
