About the Team
The School of Health Sciences is educating tomorrows graduates in an environment that is contemporary, challenging, and adaptive to a rapidly evolving world. Our teaching programs are intrinsically interdisciplinary and cover a broad range of professional and other disciplines in the clinical and non-clinical health sciences, and in sport-related disciplines. These areas are underpinned by a strong focus on research and research led teaching, which often involves partnerships with a range of external organisations. Our programs include undergraduate degrees, Honours degrees, coursework Master’s programs, and higher degree research programs (Masters and PhD). 

Our Paramedicine program is an accredited 3-year undergraduate program, is well established, and is leading in the sector nationally. The new Bachelor of Paramedicine is undergoing accreditation. Specifically, the paramedicine discipline has strong collaborations with clinical providers (both public and private) nationally and internationally, and we enjoy the benefits of our associations (teaching and research) with the Western Sydney community and beyond.

About the Role
The School of Health Sciences are We are seeking a forward thinking, dynamic, and innovative scholar to take on a role at the level of Lecturer (Level B) in Paramedicine and to contribute to our programs in this area. 

The successful applicant will be expected to be involved in a range of academic activities including the development, implementation, and teaching of the Paramedicine program. The appointee will also have opportunities to contribute to program leadership in Paramedicine. The appointee will be expected to conduct research and supervise, where appropriate, undergraduate and postgraduate (Masters and PhD) students in their area of expertise. The appointee will work closely with research and teaching staff in the School of Health Sciences and will be encouraged to develop collaborations with units across the wider University. Appointees will also be required to foster relevant relationships external to the University, including for clinical placements.

This is a full-time, ongoing position based at the Campbelltown campus, multi-campus activities requiring travel to other campuses of the University may be required.  

About you
The successful candidate will have:

  • Masters or PhD or equivalent in an area relevant to Paramedicine
  • Recognised Paramedicine qualifications and registration with the Paramedicine Board of Australia, or qualifications to gain such registration.
  • Demonstrated Paramedicine industry experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in quality and innovative teaching, including ability to facilitate learning in small and large groups, medical simulation, and experience in using contemporary methods of curriculum design, development, delivery, and assessment (including the use of e-learning methods).
  • Demonstrated experience in accordance with level of appointment in progressing research initiatives from inception through to publication.
  • Demonstrated experience in, or the potential to move into, the supervision of research students at undergraduate, Honours and higher degree level.
  • Demonstrated experience in successful collaboration with industry and community partners.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as a team.

Remuneration Package:  Academic Level B $135,528 to $159,922 p.a. (comprising Salary of $114,523 to $135,230 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading)
