About School of Medicine

The School of Medicine at Western Sydney University receives funding from the Department of Health under the Rural Clinical Training Scheme program to deliver clinical training in rural areas. The School has two Rural Clinical School located at Bathurst and Lismore, the Clinical Schools have a strong commitment to serving our communities and delivering upon workforce needs across our regions. Our staff work across hospitals, clinical schools and research institutes at locations across Western NSW including the Murray Darling Basin and Bathurst where our rural program is based and students likewise are found across Western Sydney and across NSW.

About the Role

The primary responsibility of the Research Officer is to assist the Rural Director, the Rural Clinical Dean, the Rural Health & Research Academics and other staff within the Rural Clinical Schools with research related activities located at Bathurst and Orange.

Challenges of this role will include working across the University, Aboriginal Medical Services (AMS), Local Health District, and, liaising with a diverse range of people including academics, general staff, clinicians, students, general practitioners, their practices, organisations, and patients. Keeping track of the progress of MD project students and ensuring they are supported at every stage of their project.

The position holder is required to work from the Rural Clinical School, Bathurst.  With some travel to the main campus at Campbelltown necessary.

This is a part-time (14 hours per week), fixed term appointment until April 2025.

Remuneration Package: Higher Education Worker Level 6 (pro-rata) $41,552 to $44,537 p.a., (comprising (pro-rata) salary $35,112 to $37,634 p.a., 17% Superannuation and Leave Loading).
