School of Engineering, Design and Built Environment Casual Academic Staff Recruitment 2022

The School of Engineering, Design and Built Environment at Western Sydney University is looking for suitably qualified, experienced and committed individuals to join our Team as Sessional/Casual Teaching Academics.

Sessional Academics play a key role in the delivery of a wide range of teaching programs in the School. Sessional Academics work under the supervision of Subject Coordinators and, subject to qualifications and experience, may be involved in a number of associated activities in relation to the delivery of our subjects including classroom and online teaching, assessment preparation, marking, student advising and other academic activities.

The School teaches across a number of academic disciplines including;

  • Undergraduate Engineering and Post-Graduate Engineering (Civil, Construction, Environmental, Sustainability, Electrical, Biomedical, Telecommunications, Advanced Manufacturing, Materials, Mechanical, Robotics & Mechatronics)
  • Undergraduate Construction (Building Design Management, Construction Management Honours (Major in Building Surveying and Quantity Survey) and Construction Technology)
  • Post-Graduate Construction (Building Surveying, Bushfire Protection, Fire Safety Engineering)
  • Architecture (Bachelor and Masters)
  • Industrial Design (Bachelors in ID and in Design & Technology)
  • Postgraduate Project Management (Master of Project Management)

There are opportunities to teach across several Western campuses. The School predominantly teaches across the Parramatta South (Rydalmere) and Kingswood (Penrith) campuses in addition to the new Parramatta Engineering Innovation Hub at 6 Hassall Street, Parramatta. The School’s programs also provide a number of online teaching opportunities, which are available for a variety of subjects.

Availability of opportunities for sessional employment vary throughout the year, so inclusion on the eligibility list does not guarantee engagement. It is one of the pre-requisites to engage in sessional teaching in the School.
