The School of Science is a large and comprehensive school with learning, teaching and research excellence encompassing a wide range of biological, chemical, environmental, food, forensic, medical, nutritional and physical sciences, including agriculture and astronomy.

About the Role

If you love talking with people and finding out ‘what makes them tick’ and are a competent writer for a variety of audiences, this role is for you. The ideal candidate will be gregarious, with an interest in the breadth that is ‘Science’, and have exceptional verbal and written communication, including excellent attention to detail. 

The successful application will be required to hold a current Australian Drivers Licence as travel to multiple campuses will be required (Campbelltown, Parramatta South, Hawkesbury).

The Engagement Assistant will work closely with the Engagement Officer and School Manager on (internal and external) communication streams that promote the School and its achievements.

This will include:

  • Sourcing content and images, and drafting communication for an internal School weekly e-newsletter
  • Drafting targeted communication for social media and other external (website) audiences
  • Assisting the Engagement Officer and School Engagement Advisory Group to promote the School and its offerings, e.g., via Banners, brochures, gift bags, and assisting with (preparation and delivery of) School engagement events

Multiple positions are available

Remuneration: Higher Education Worker (HEW) Level 3, Step 1 $44.51 per hour (rate includes 25% Casual Loading)

Hours of Work: Variable, depending on events and activities, noting the newsletter is weekly so up to 7 hours per week is expected at a minimum.

Duration of Appointment: Variable until December 2023 with possible extension.
