About the School
The School of Humanities and Communication Arts offers programs in arts, communication and creative industries, design (visual communication), interpreting and translation, languages, music, TESOL, and creative music therapy. Innovative subjects focus on contemporary debates, perspectives, methods and technologies. Wherever possible, programs include practical training, often through involvement in community and industry-based projects.

The School of Humanities and Communication Arts manages a broad technical infrastructure including a television studio, music recording studios, specialist IT laboratories, sound and video post-production studios, a professional design studio, a television and radio journalism studio, and portable equipment stores.

About the Role
The Digital Communications Officer will work with academic staff to increase the public visibility of their research, to translate it for alternative non-academic media, and to track its impact upon the broader community.

The role will also work with staff to enhance their ability to deploy social media as a way of building virtual communities within the T&L space, creating support networks that will directly improve students sense of belonging to the university and their resilience as learners.

The School hosts a number of large public Events every year and the role will help to support the digital profile and presence of these activities, drawing new audiences, increasing the School’s brand recognition and building public engagement. The role assists with developing and implementing a social media strategy to promote the School’s work and to build community and belonging among our students.

About You
To be successful in this role you will have a tertiary qualification in a communications or multi-media discipline and/or demonstrated equivalent and relevant experience.  You will also have demonstrated experience in managing social media channels and developing a social media communications strategy.

This is a part-time (0.6 FTE), fixed-term position for two years. Position location to be negotiated during interview, noting that the School has a presence at Parramatta, Kingswood and Bankstown campus. Travel to these location may be required to attend School events.

Remuneration Package: HEW Level 6 $62,327 to $66,806 pro rata rates (comprising Salary of $52,667 to $56,452 pro rata, plus Superannuation and Leave Loading).
