About Western
Western Sydney University is a modern, forward-thinking, research-led university, located at the heart of Australia’s fastest-growing and economically significant region, Western Sydney. Boasting 11 campuses – many in Western Sydney CBD locations – and more than 200,000 alumni, 49,500 students and 3,500 staff, the University has 14 Schools with an array of well-designed programs and degrees carefully structured to meet the demands of future industry.

The Office of Teaching and Research Technical Services is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Medical and Allied Health Team as a Technical Support Officer.

About the role
Your primary focus will be providing the highest quality technical service in support of the School of Health Sciences, their undergraduate teaching programs such as Speech Pathology Podiatry, Traditional Chinese Medicine and the activities undertaken in the UniClinic.  The UniClinic offers a range of therapeutic health practices to members of the community and is an integral component in preparing students to be work ready in a variety of health sector environments.

You will support the learning and development of future Allied Health healthcare workers by supporting practical activities and maintaining the high standards of the UniClinic. You will work with professional and academic colleagues preparing classes and equipment in the Clinical Teaching Laboratories, perform cleaning and sterilisation of instruments used in the Uniclinic and off-site clinics, and preparation of simulation materials and clinical documentation. You will be client focused, can think innovatively, be a good problem solver with the ability to identify and implement solutions. You will also have experience in undergraduate technical support including preparing and setting up practical teaching places, including laboratory, clinical and any other specialised practical teaching facilities.

Due to the nature of the work undertaken by this position and the potential exposure to human tissue, blood or body fluids, laboratory workers in this area are strongly recommended to consider vaccination for hepatitis B in line with the Vaccination for people at occupational risk guidelines of the Australian Government Department of Health.

Applicants should be aware that this role will be based at Campbelltown campus, however as Western Sydney University is a multi-campus university travel to other campuses may be required when operational needs arise.

Hours of work for employees in Teaching & Research Technical Services may vary due to operational requirements in supporting teaching classes and further details are outlined in the position description.  Ensure you address all the selection criteria in your application.

This is a part-time - 24.5 hours (0.7 FTE), ongoing position.
