The School of Social Sciences at Western Sydney University is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified, and experienced applicants to join the School’s eligibility list as Sessional/Casual Academics.

Sessional Academics play a key role in the delivery of the School’s teaching programs and work under the supervision of Subject Coordinators and Directors of Academic Programs. Subject to qualifications and experience, Sessional Social Sciences Academics may be involved in a number of associated activities in relation to the delivery of our subjects including classroom and online teaching, assessment preparation, marking, meeting with students and other academic activities.

Applicants whose initial qualification is outside of their discipline of teaching will need to show evidence of discipline knowledge and currency through scholarship, professional experience and engagement. Publications, grants and professional engagement activities must be completed within the discipline of teaching and in the preceding five-year period to demonstrate and maintain teaching eligibility status.

There are opportunities to teach both online and across several of our campuses. Opportunities will be available at our Parramatta South, Liverpool and Penrith campuses. Please indicate your Campus preference/s and your availability in your application (daytime and evening classes are held from Monday to Sunday).

Academic Staff Enterprise Agreement: All casual sessional staff will be employed under the Academic Staff Agreement 2022 2025.  Information on the rates of pay are in the Enterprise Agreement and may be subject to qualifications held (please refer to page 104).

It is important that you select your areas of expertise, campus preferences and availability in your application. As part of the assessment process, you may be invited for an interview.
