  • Part Time hours, 3 days per week (on site for all 3 days due to sentencing physical files)

  • HEO 4 Step 1 $52.80 per hour

About the opportunity

The Records Officer is responsible for assisting with the maintenance and organisation of university records. They support data privacy practices and participate in document disposal and preservation efforts. The role requires proficiency in sentencing record management. The Records Officer will also offer guidance and assistance to university recordkeeping system users and engage in educational initiatives on best practices.

Your key responsibilities will be

  • Carry out monthly disposal program including, but not limited to, student files disposal

  • Provide advice to clients using the University of Sydney’s records management system on routine questions of records classification, titling conventions, records retention issues and application of disposal schedules

  • Provide support to the RMS help desk facility for users of the University of Sydney’s records management system; record details of the help desk calls and emails

  • Printing daily file request lists

  • Participate in the provision of Record Keeping training to ARMS clients

  • Retrieve from and return files to records storage areas

  • Carry out document imaging duties, and conduct document quality checks

  • Provide Client Services including; File Creation, Classification of Records, File Management & File Maintenance

  • Undertakes ad-hoc projects and other activities.

You will have

  • Experience using records retention schedules

  • Possess expertise in records sentencing, as it is a crucial skill for this role

  • Accuracy and attention to detail

  • Experience in the higher education sector

  • Experience working in a busy records or information management environment

  • Understanding of relevant legislative requirements, standards and current recordkeeping practices, including the NSW State Records Act 1998 and the Australian Standard on Records Management (AS ISO 15489)
